SD Worx appoints Bart Alkemade as MD of SD Worx International. SD Worx is currently the third largest payroll service provider in Europe, with branches in Belgium, Holland, France, Luxemburg and Germany. SD Worx aims to become the top quality market leader in the field of HR services throughout the European market.

Bart Alkemade (b. Breda, Holland, 1965) has 12 years’ international experience in strategic and change management. Before he joined SD Worx International, Alkemade was working for CIMB Bank Berhad, the 2nd largest bank in Malaysia, with more than 14,000 employees. He designed a new organisation model for the bank and introduced them to a more customer-oriented market approach. Before that, Alkemade worked for quite some time at British American Tobacco, where he was responsible for optimising the way the company operated, covering corporate, HR, publicity, marketing and product matters. As MD, he set up change programmes in Kuala Lumpur, Taiwan, London, the Ivory Coast and the Caribbean. Alkemade began his career as Brand Manager for Procter & Gamble Benelux.

Bart Alkemade has a Master’s degree in Business Economics from Erasmus University in Rotterdam, as well as a Master’s in European Economics (College of Europe, Bruges) and senior executive training courses (IMD, Lausanne).

In his new position Bart Alkemade will be reporting to Jan van den Nieuwenhuijzen, Managing Director and CEO of the SD Worx Group.

Strong international expansion

The appointment of Bart Alkemade is part of the international expansion strategy of the SD Worx Group. The Group currently handles more than one million payslips per month. In 2007, the Group concluded 140 international contracts.

SD Worx redefined its operating strategy last year in order to support its further growth. There are two separate areas of growth: Belgium and the international market. In this regard a new organisational structure was also implemented with a separate management team for Belgium (headed by Hans Joris) and International (soon to be headed by Bart Alkemade). This will enable both teams to develop their own dynamic and respond to specific market requirements.
