HR Tech World: Demos, discussion and…HARRI

24 March 2017

On the unlikely chance you missed it, HR Tech World Congress, the UK’s biggest annual HR technology show, took place at the ExCel in London this week. It was a fantastic two-day event attended by more than 3,500 exhibitors and delegates, with plenty of interesting speaker presentations including thought-provoking keynotes from Sir Ken Robinson and Lady Karren Brady.

The theme of this year’s event was ‘Future of Work’, with sessions offering insight into the business benefits that can be achieved by optimising HR output through the adoption and implementation of technology. The event also touched upon the future of payroll, exploring machine learning and artificial intelligence in relation to HR processes – and, as a global payroll and HR provider, the SD Worx team was pleased to see so much emphasis on global, particularly during Sir Ken Robinson’s keynote, which focussed driving culture and innovation.

Our time at HR Tech World

Day one of the event got off to a great start, with SD Worx’s Global Head of Solutions, Mike Worthington, delivering a product demo to a jam-packed room of attendees. The demo provided a great opportunity for attendees to see how modern global payroll systems with local capabilities can really improve the value of the payroll department in a wider business context.  Mike also discussed the global services that SD Worx’s payroll & HR platform, Dayforce HCM, can offer.

On day two we were lucky enough to have our customer, Mairead Honan, Process Improvement Project Manager – HR Europe, HRSS & Payroll at Boston Scientific, deliver a great presentation recounting the company’s adoption of a multinational payroll system. Mairead emphasised the benefits that ‘going global’ can bring to pan-geographic organisations, and provided insights and top tips for others who are considering making the move to adopt global payroll.

Another undisputed star of the show was our very own robot, HARRI (Human Advisory Resource: Robotic Interface). HARRI wowed the crowds by doing a few laps around the expo, even stopping to greet interested delegates and take a few selfies along the way. HARRI emphasises the importance of keeping the human in Human Resources, and it was great to see him sparking lots of conversation about automation and the future of HR.

In summary, this year’s HR Tech World was a fantastic event, with plenty of innovative presentations, demos and discussion. The SD Worx team certainly had a great time, and we’re now raring to go for INSIGHTS in Las Vegas this October. For more information about what SD Worx can offer, please email us at
