A Day in the Life of… Els Hanssens, International Sales Director

In this blog series, we catch up with members of the GSS SD Worx senior management team to find out a little bit about them, including what they do at work each day and why. These Q&A style blogs will reveal personality and insight of some of our core team: the people who help to make SD Worx great!

Our next member of the leadership team is: Els Hanssens, International Sales Director.

1. Describe your average day in the office at SD Worx
 First of all I have the pleasure to work with my team, a team of 13 great salespeople. I start each day catching up with them about current sales prospects and projects. In addition, I connect and meet regularly with the management team to discuss on our GSS organisation and on we can improve our way of working and our processes. For example, in terms of customer service or getting SD Worx noticed in the market: feedback from prospects is particularly useful in shaping strategy. For me a day consists of a balance between strategic conversations within my division, and getting stuck in to ongoing projects. Also getting in touch with our colleagues in the other countries and our partners is an important part of my so called average day.

2. What is your favourite thing about working for SD Worx?
What I really like about working for SD Worx is the people that I get to work with, and the purpose of our combined work: we deliver high quality solutions to make customers’ lives easier. The fact that I am part of a team that is contributing to growing SD Worx’s international footprint drives me through each working day, and I can honestly say that I love what I do.

3. What is the main focus of your role?
My focus is always on sourcing ways to have better conversations with prospects and to deliver the best possible solutions to customers. As a team, we are constantly looking at the market and adapting processes to suit changing customer needs. This is something that is important to SD Worx: focusing on the customer’s needs as a priority and adapting as required.

4. What is the main purpose of your work?
The main purpose of my work as a Sales Director is to expand SD Worx’s international presence, always bearing customer needs in mind and considering what is sustainable for the organisation.

5. What are you most passionate about in terms of your role?
It comes back to the same thing: I’m passionate about positioning SD Worx as a top player in terms of its HR and payroll offering internationally. I’m also constantly looking to grow up team and help each member achieve all that they can by helping them tackle any challenges they may face.

6. Why do you do what you do?

I joined SD Worx six years ago, in a sales role. Ever since, I have believed in our potential to succeed in an international market, and it makes me very happy (and proud) to see us growing at a great speed. Now, I want to use the expertise I have gathered over for years, and the network I have built, to boost the growth of the international division.

7. How do you like to wind down at the end of a working day?
I have a similar answer to Jan (Van Mol)! I step into my car and if I have no calls to do anymore, which is quite unique I select a Spotify playlist depending on my mood. I like most sorts of genres when it comes to music – and if you ask me what it will be today, I’d probably say dance music – it is a Friday after all!
Once home, I love to spend time with my young children (this always puts any challenges encountered that working day into perspective).

8. What is your vision for SD Worx within your role?
This is a tricky question. Ultimately, my vision for SD Worx is to continue our path as a major player in the international market, and continue to help customers from around the globe. To help achieve this, it’s not just a matter of doing by job but to always think and dare to think outside of the box in terms of improving services and processes to take care of SD Worx’s international future.

9. What would you like to say to people that doesn’t know about SD Worx OR how would you describe SD Worx to people who don’t know about us?
I’d say it’s worth getting to know us. We have a very solid customer-centric DNA, reflected in our delivery of solution and services. We think with the customer, listening to their challenges and coming up with the best solution for their specific needs. We are flexible and don’t limit ideas to a closed box: this is important.
