Around the World with SD Worx: One Week, Four Events

13 October 2017

Global HR Fest 2017 in Brussels
On 4th-5th October, SD Worx attended Global HR Fest in Brussels as a Silver Sponsor and exhibitor.
Across the two-day event, we joined industry experts to explore how the role of HR is transforming across the globe – especially ahead of GDPR.

On Day One, Frederik Somers delivered a speaker session about analytics is impacting the world of payroll and HR, and talked through key ways to strengthen or implement HR analytics in your organisation. Frederik also emphasised the importance of central analytics capability to ensure that data is consistent, reliable, and easy to use.
Gert Beeckmans explored all things GDPR on Day Two, including five steps HR and payroll managers can follow to get compliant. Gert explained that the GDPR essentially is about giving back control of employees’ own data to those employees.

The interactive poll conducted during the session revealed that only 19% HR manager respondents felt they have a good understanding of the rights their employees have under GDPR.

CIPP Annual Conference and Exhibition in Newport

Also on 4th-5th October, the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) hosted their Annual Conference and Exhibition at the prestigious Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales.

Attendees had the opportunity to learn about the forthcoming changes to payroll and pensions legislation, ask questions to industry experts, and network with other payroll and pension professionals.
Ian Walters MSc FCIPP FHEA, Learning & Development Director at SD Worx UK delivered two workshops across the event. The first on global strategic management explored ‘global’ from a personal perspective and how companies become global.

Ian’s second workshop discussed GDPR: what it’s all about, how to protect your organisation from getting it wrong, and what the impact will be of failing to comply. This session also involved an interactive quiz, and when it came to how many audience members felt their companies are taking GDPR seriously, we saw a 50/50 split.
Our stand was kept very busy across the event, but it was Harri who stole the SD Worx show!

Ceridian INSIGHTS 2017 in Las Vegas

From Monday 2nd to Friday 6th October, SD Worx sponsored and attended Ceridian INSIGHTS 2017 (Ceridian’s annual customer forum) at Aria Resort & Casino, Las Vegas.
Attendees of the five-day event had the chance to network with over 2,400 industry professionals and choose between 100 sessions focused on topics including product compliance, thought leadership and best practice techniques.
In addition, individuals could meet one-on-one with Ceridian’s product experts and partners in the Partner & Solutions Centre, and attend hands on Ceridian product training courses.

The SD Worx stand was kept busy throughout the week… thanks to everyone who dropped by!

GDPR Summit 2017 in London

Finally, SD Worx headed to London for GDPR Summit 2017 on Monday 9th October.
The day was dedicated to exploring the effects of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) on business-critical processes, including payroll and HR.

The purpose of the event was to help attendees to gain a better understanding of the regulation and build a roadmap to compliance. (With GDPR’s deadline looming, all organisations will need to be compliant by 25th May 2018, or risk facing fines of up to 4% of their annual turnover).

Gert Beeckmans shared his expertise about GDPR – and how to prepare – with audiences. During the session, an interactive poll revealed that 58% HR managers know that employees have some of rights under GDPR but do not yet have a good overview and understanding of them all.

That’s a wrap… it's certainly been a busy week for everyone at SD Worx!
