Knowledge of Dutch employment law and Dutch tax regulations is a must for HR professionals working in the Dutch labour market. This course will provide you with a solid basic knowledge of Dutch employment law, which you can immediately put into practice in your day to day work. You will be able to solve simple employment law issues yourself.

The rules change quickly, so it is important to keep up to date. This course is ideal for HR professionals and payroll administrators who need a foundational understanding of Dutch tax law. It covers the essentials required to manage payroll taxation with confidence.

Goal

This course will provide you with a solid basic knowledge of Dutch employment law and Dutch taxation regulations, which you can immediately put into practice in your day to day work. You will be able to solve simple employment law and tax issues yourself.

Target audience

Are you an HR manager or HR assistant, do you fulfil a similar role or are you considering doing that? This is the course for you. This course is also very suitable for SME entrepreneurs with staff, who perform HR tasks themselves.

Approach

In 3 days’ time, our experts will make you acquainted with all the relevant basic principles of Dutch employment law and Dutch tax regulations. The main themes such as dismissal law, collective labour agreements, illness and reintegration, holidays and the works council and various tax topics will be discussed. Of course there will be plenty of time to ask questions.

Day 1:

  • Employee versus self-employed worker (definition employment contract)
  • On-call workers
  • Collective labour agreements
  • Application procedure (incl. screening and medical examination)
  • Focus points for fixed-term employment contract
    • Succession of fixed-term employment contracts
    • Duty of notification
  • Special conditions in the employment contract
    • Trial period
    • Pension dismissal clause
    • Non-competition clause / Non-solicitation clause
    • Penalty clause
  • Working hours and breaks
  • Public holidays
  • Wage (payment, minimum wage and setoff)
  • Liability of employer and employee for damages
  • Holiday (build-up, take-up and lapse)
  • Statutory forms of leave (pregnancy and maternity leave, parental leave, care leave etc.)

  • Incapacity for work (illness and reintegration)

After 20 years of working as a Payroll Advisor, Suzer has internally transferred to the Tax and Legal department of SD Worx, where they perform the role of Tax consultant with great pleasure.
Suzer is following the Fiscal Advisor RB training at the Register of Tax Advisors. Their strength lies in giving practical advice that you can start using right away. In addition to giving advice, income tax returns, creating payroll instructions and giving courses are part of their daily practice.
