SD Worx introduces agentic AI in payroll to enhance customer engagement

SD Worx, the leading European HR, Pay and Time partner, is accelerating the integration of artificial intelligence into payroll administration with the rollout of a scalable, multi-agent AI model. This marks a major step forward in transforming payroll into a more proactive and insight-driven service.

At the core is a hybrid model in which payroll professionals manage a team of multiple AI agents. These agents support customer interactions, knowledge retrieval and payroll execution, while human experts validate outcomes where it matters and ensure quality and contextual accuracy. This approach shifts the role of payroll professionals towards coordinating AI-driven workflows, allowing them to focus more on advisory and customer engagement.

    The model is modular, scalable and tailored to customer needs, enabling personalisation at scale. Strong AI governance ensures clear boundaries between automation and human oversight, safeguarding quality, transparency and compliance. 

    Following extensive testing with pilot customers, the solution is now being rolled out within Belgian SME payroll teams. Approximately 500 payroll consultants will have been onboarded by the end of Summer.  

      We are running this together with Yuma, specialist in AI transformation, and see a lot of potential for our customers and payroll professionals. Further expansion is already underway, with systems and agents currently being developed for other segments in Belgium but also for the Netherlands and Finland. This scaling approach underscores our ambition to deploy the solution across multiple markets and highlights the strong scalability of the platform.
