Sanofi successfully migrates multinational payroll after acquisition with SD Worx

Sanofi chose SD Worx to work with for the implementation of the new payroll services for Zentiva via the Multinational Communication Infrastructure (MCI) portal. This portal, which is GDPR compliant, ensures that the data can be moved easily.

Overview

Sanofi

Sanofi, a French multinational pharmaceutical company headquartered in Paris, France, finalized negotiations for Advent’s acquisition of Zentiva, an international pharmaceutical company focused on developing, manufacturing and marketing modern generic pharmaceutical products, in 2018.

Sanofi has over 100,000 employees in 100 countries across the globe, and has an industrial network of 81 industrial sites in 36 countries. Zentiva, headquartered in Prague, reaches over 40 million patients in 25 European countries. Both companies are well established in the pharmaceutical industry, and have offices and employees around the globe.

    Challenge & Goals

Zentiva’s sale to Advent resulted in the need for its employees to be seamlessly changed over to a new payroll system with the same payroll elements as Sanofi’s payroll system. The employees needed to be paid correctly and on time after the acquisition, and Zentiva needed the payroll elements and the company’s existing finance system to be mirrored.

As part of the sale agreement between Sanofi and Advent regarding the new finance system for Zentiva, general ledger files were needed for each payroll that would follow the same format globally and also needed to be transmitted directly to the company’s finance system via a secured and compliant connection.

      Solution

Sanofi chose SD Worx to work with for the implementation of the new payroll services for Zentiva via the Multinational Communication Infrastructure (MCI) portal. SD Worx implemented the MCI portal for the safe transmission of payroll data between Sanofi, Zentiva, SD Worx and required payroll partners. This portal, which is GDPR compliant, ensures that the data can be moved easily, with the portal remaining simple and streamlined.

SD Worx involved its own network in France, Germany and Switzerland together with their partnership network for Italy, UK and Portugal to complete the project. SD Worx France, Germany, Switzerland together with F2A, Gesmetodo and Cintra worked together to complete the migration of the payroll data and set up the new payroll process.

        Results

The Multinational Communication Infrastructure project, which started in February 2018, was completed in two waves. The first wave took place in July 2018, with France and Portugal migrating, with the second wave taking place in September 2018 for Germany, Italy, Switzerland and the UK.

In total, 389 employees were migrated through the MCI project, with a mix of Managed Payroll Services, Comprehensive Payroll Services, Dedicated CRE, and SD Worx Shared Services Centre for each country. After the migration took place, all employees were accurately paid, with SD Worx securing 100% accuracy for all countries.
